Golden Fern — Handmade Ceramic Wall Plaque
I pressed the fern too deep.
I didn't realize it until the bisque firing. And then the glaze firing confirmed it — a crack ran diagonally across the surface, right through the fern impression, right through the emerald glaze I loved so much.
Instead of starting over, I filled it with gold.
Kintsugi is the Japanese philosophy of repairing broken things with gold — the belief that the broken place is where the beauty enters. That something repaired with intention is more valuable than something that was never broken at all.
This handmade ceramic wall plaque is pressed with a real fern in white speckled clay. Deep emerald glaze shifts and pools across the surface. The clay has dimension — subtle waves, nothing perfectly flat. Nothing perfectly anything.
Except the gold line. That one is perfect.
Hung directly on a nail. Just the piece and your wall.
One of one. There will never be another exactly like this.
In a world of mass production... this is the slow way.
