Crescent Blood Moon — Large Handmade Ceramic Wall Hanging
There are nights when the moon rises rust red and enormous on the horizon. Ancient. Elemental. The kind of sight that stops you mid sentence and makes you remember how small and how lucky you are.
This piece carries that energy.
Crescent Blood Moon is a large handmade ceramic wall hanging pressed with monkey flower... the wildflower that blooms along the trails in the Santa Cruz Mountains. Its stems and leaves sweep across sandy river rock clay in a rusty terracotta and sage glaze that burns and bleeds across the surface the way a blood moon burns across the night sky.
At the center, a brass disc hand patinated in my studio, oxidized until copper, gold and green emerged from the metal itself. Below it, a wire wrapped chrysoprase drop with brass and copper accents. Chrysoprase creates openness to new situations, to positive possibility, to accepting yourself and others as they are. It stimulates compassion and forgiveness. The kind of energy that makes a home feel safe enough to be honest in.
Fire on the outside. Gentle opening on the inside.
This is nature inspired wall art for the one who isn't afraid of a statement. Who wants something on their wall that makes people stop, look, and feel something.
