The crescent moon has always been my favorite.
There's something about that slim, glowing sliver in the night sky... the way it holds just enough light to make you stop and look up. That's what this piece is about.
Copper Tide Moon is a handcrafted ceramic wall hanging made from speckled sierra clay. The actual seed pod of a protea flower was pressed into the surface, leaving its impression embedded in the clay... a quiet record of something real. Finished in a copper and tiger's eye glaze that shifts from warm rust to deep teal... earthy and a little wild.
Hanging from soft leather cord with brass beads, an antique crystal from a chandelier drops from the center of the crescent. It catches the light. The shadows move a little while the light dances throughout the day.
Eleven inches of wall space from leather to moon tip, six and a half inches wide. Just enough presence to stop you in your tracks.
This one won't be made again. Not like this. The glaze, the crystal, the impressions, the way the clay moved... it's a one-of-a-kind piece.
