Slow Fashion vs. Fast Fashion: My Journey to Jester Swink
The Turning Point: Leaving Corporate Life Behind
In 2023, after a series of corporate layoffs, I decided it was time for a change. The previous layoffs in 2009 and 2016 had always made me think, âThis is my chance,â but money kept pulling me back. I needed stability, so I always found myself back in corporate life. But in 2023, after the final layoff, I decided I was done. Enough was enough.
The corporate world no longer felt right for me. I wasnât just working for a paycheck; I was giving away my time and talent to something that didnât fulfill me. That was the moment I decided to put everything into Jester Swink, my passion project. It became my mission to make this my full-time careerâno more distractions. It was time to create handcrafted art that not only resonated with me but also brought joy and meaning into othersâ lives.
Jester Swink was no longer just a side hustle; it became my focus, my reason for getting up every morning. And to make it possible, I started teaching art and jewelry classes to kids and adults, a way to subsidize my business while doing what I love.
